Music Business 101 . . .
This course is required for all students and is an important overview of the entertainment industry. Includes a look at careers in the music business and relevant topics, such as current trends in record label structures, supporting professional organizations, and how income is generated from music (e.g., recordings, ringtones, video games, commercials, film, etc.).

The Artist . . .
Learn secrets from the pros about how you can develop yourself (or someone else) as an artist. This course focuses on the development of the artist’s talent and image, and compares this to the current “American Idol” myth. Booking and touring for the artist will also be discussed, as well as the artist’s promo media (e.g., bios, headshots, demos, videos, and interviews).

The Producer . . .
Today’s producer is required to wears many hats in the industry. Learn how to produce your next a project from a Grammy award-winning producer who will also guide you through the complex roles of the record producer and the production styles used in various music genres (e.g. hip-hop, rock, folk, country, and Jazz.).

The Artist Manager . . .
Find out what why artist managers are considered the gatekeepers of the music industry and what you can do now to get started on this career path. The daily responsibilities of the artist manager will be discussed, as well as the relationship between artist and manager.

The Engineer . . .
Learn basics of the latest version of ProTools technology in recording, editing, processing, and mixing. Then create your own demo project with other students from the camp in a top-rated studio under the supervision of award-winning engineers.

The Songwriter . . .
Bring your songs with you to be reviewed by successful songwriters or learn the basics of songwriting and get started. This course addresses common elements that are found in all great songs and examines song structure, melody, lyrics, and “hooks.”

Marketing the Music . . .
Discover new marketing, distribution, and promotional trends in the music business, and learn how you can “brand” the artist’s identity through an association with products, companies, and organizations.
